1 Institutional Development Plan (2026-2040) Preface The Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), established in 2009 through an Act of Parliament, has grown from a modest beginning with one department and fewer than ten students into a multidisciplinary Central University with 13 Schools, 28 Departments, 64 academic programmes and an on- roll strength of 5,014 students. The University’s growth has been supported by a 516.76-acre campus, expanding academic infrastructure, strengthened research capacity, and increasing national visibility. In recent years, CUTN has entered an important phase of institutional consolidation and transformation.
